ABOUT THE DESIGN OF STARBUCKS BATANGAS ICON MUG

Starbucks Philippines released Starbucks Batangas Icon Mug featuring a native embroidery called “Barong or Barong Tagalog.” Barong Tagalog is a formal wear worn by men and women alike.  It is made of indigenous materials such as pineapple fiber, banana fiber, abaca fiber or similar materials.  It is worn during formal occasions and has evolved to become a national symbol. The Province of Batangas, particularly the town of Taal, is famous for the finest hand woven Barong Tagalog.

The other side of the Starbucks Batangas Icon Mug features a coconut plantation surrounding Taal Lake. Taal Lake is the home of Taal Volcano – the world’s smallest active volcano.  Taal Volcano is a volcano within a lake within a volcano. The Starbucks Batangas Icon Mug is part of the 2008 Starbucks collection. The Starbucks Batangas icon mug as well as all Starbucks Icon mugs in the Philippines are manufactured in China.

ABOUT BATANGAS

Batangas City is the capital of Batangas Province. Batangas Province is fmaous for Kapeng Barado, Batangas Knife, Barong Tagalog and Tiliwis (a kind of fish endemic to Tall Lake).  Batangas is one of the riches provinces in the Philippines.
